Dropkick Murphys’ leading man Ken Casey says the punk band “broke up” with Elon Musk long before rumors started to swirl that the group’s X account got suspended because the singer called out a concertgoer flaunting a MAGA hat.
The Boston native is also standing firm in his hard stance that Donald Trump is a traitor, labeling the president a “rat” and a “coward.”
Widespread speculation sparked across social media after the weekend when people on X, a Musk-owned platform formerly known as Twitter, noticed a “@dropkickmurphys” account had been suspended.
Several news outlets had also reported about the suspension being connected to Casey’s interaction with a concertgoer waving around a Make America Great Again hat during a Sunday night show at MGM Music Hall at Fenway.
Casey clarified in a statement Tuesday that the account is not his band’s, and that his iconic Celtic punk group has been off X since Musk took it over in 2022.
