Qualcomm Takes New Stab at Handhelds With Next-Gen Snapdragon G Chips

The company refreshes its gaming handheld chips, one of which will power the Pocket S2 Android handheld from Chinese vendor Ayaneo.
Smartphone chip vendor Qualcomm is making a new push to power gaming handhelds with its next-generation Snapdragon G Series chips.
The processors span three models; the most powerful is the Snapdragon G3 Gen 3, which promises 30% faster CPU performance and a 28% increase in graphics capabilities over the previous generation. The two other chips are the G2 Gen 2 and G1 Gen 2.
All three models feature an 8-core CPU, but a different mix of cores split between efficiency, performance, and so-called „Prime“ cores, as you can see in the spec sheet.
Qualcomm didn’t elaborate on the exact specs, such as clock speeds or power efficiency. So, we’re not entirely clear how the chips have been improved over the previous generation, which also featured 8-core Kyro CPUs.
