Disney’s live-action remake of the 1937 film premieres Friday but some people are predicting it’s going to bomb.
Snow White is being called out on social media over alleged vacant movie theater seats as the film heads into its opening weekend.
The live-action remake of the 1937 film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was released on Friday. In the original, based on the famous fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm, a magical mirror declares Snow White is the „fairest of them all“, and she flees into the forest to escape her jealous, evil stepmother. While in the woods, she becomes friends with seven dwarf miners: Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy and Sneezy. Eventually, her stepmother is defeated, and Snow White finds love with a handsome prince.
Ahead of its 2025 debut, Snow White has been embroiled in controversy—with some labeling changes to the new movie „woke.“
Rachel Zegler’s casting as Snow White was both applauded and criticized, with some conservatives and social media users questioning Disney’s decision to cast a Latina in the role.
Zegler also drew backlash for her comments on President Donald Trump following his victory in the 2024 election. Among some of her remarks made via Instagram were: „May Trump supporters and Trump voters and Trump himself never know peace“ and „f*** Donald Trump.
