Neil Young shared concerns he may be barred from reentering the U.S. after his tour due to outspoken criticism of President Donald Trump.
Neil Young, the iconic singer-songwriter and dual Canadian-American citizen, says he fears he may be blocked from returning to the United States after his upcoming European tour due to his long-standing and vocal criticism of President Donald Trump.
The 79-year-old musician, who is scheduled to perform across Europe from June through July before returning to the U.S. in August, voiced his concern on his official Neil Young Archives website.
„When I go to play music in Europe, if I talk about Donald J. Trump, I may be one of those returning to America who is barred or put in jail to sleep on a cement floor with an aluminum blanket“, Young wrote. „That is happening all the time now.“
Young’s warning followed a series of high-profile detainments of travelers—including musicians and scientists—who were either denied U.S. entry or detained for hours, sometimes based on personal content found on their devices. He added that several countries, including Finland, Germany, and the United Kingdom, have issued updated travel advisories warning about stricter U.S. entry procedures, particularly for individuals who have criticized Trump or his administration.
„If I come back from Europe and am barred, can’t play my USA tour, all of the folks who bought tickets will not be able to come to a concert by me“, Young wrote.
