Here’s our Google Pixel 9 Pro XL vs Samsung Galaxy S24 specs comparisons. Google’s best vs Samsung’s powerful compact phone.
It’s time to compare the very best smartphone Google has to offer with one of Samsung’s offerings. We’ll be comparing the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL vs Samsung Galaxy S24 specs. The Galaxy S24 is no longer the company’s best compact smartphone, that crown is now held by the Galaxy S25. However, the Galaxy S24 is still a compelling offering, and it’ll be interesting to see how it compares to Google’s large-format foldable.
These two smartphones are different on a number of levels. They don’t have all that much in common, which should make this whole ordeal a bit more interesting. We’ll first list the specs of both phones. Following that, we’ll compare their designs, displays, performance, battery life, cameras, and audio output. Let’s get to it, shall we?SpecsGoogle Pixel 9 Pro XL vs Samsung Galaxy S24: Design
Albeit there are some design similarities between these two, they do look different. You’ll find a flat display on both phones, with uniform bezels around it. The bezels are slightly thinner on the Galaxy S24. You’ll notice that the display camera hole sits up top on both phones, though it’s smaller on the Galaxy S24. Both smartphones have a flat frame all around, though it’s slightly rounded towards the edges, for comfort’s sake.
All the physical buttons are on the right-hand side of both smartphones. On the Pixel 9 Pro XL, the power/lock key sits above the volume up and down buttons. It’s the other way around on the Samsung Galaxy S24. You will notice that both devices also have a flat backplate, but rather different camera setups. The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL includes a camera bar on the back, a horizontal one, up top. There are three cameras included in there. The Galaxy S24 has three vertically aligned cameras in the top-left corner, and each of them protrudes directly from the backplate.
The Pixel 9 Pro XL is considerably larger than the Galaxy S24, as it has a larger display. It is taller, wider, and thicker than the Galaxy S24, while also being 54 grams heavier. Both smartphones are quite slippery, as they’re made out of metal and glass. Both of them are also IP68 certified for water and dust resistance.Google Pixel 9 Pro XL vs Samsung Galaxy S24: Display
The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL includes a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display. That panel has an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz), and a resolution of 2992 x 1344. That display is also flat, and it supports HDR10+ content. The peak brightness you’re able to get here is 3,000 nits, in theory.
