Marian Rivera, Vice Ganda and Arjo Atayde bagged the top acting honors at the 73rd Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Awards held on Friday, Aug. 22.
Rivera won the Best Actress award for her performance in “Balota,” while Vice Ganda and Arjo Atayde had a tie on the Best Actor accolade for their respective portrayals in “And the Breadwinner Is…” and “Topakk.”
“Hindi na po biro ngayon ang gumawa ng pelikula… Pero pinapangarap po natin na sana mas marami pa rin manood at tumangkilik ng mga pelikulang Pilipino,” Rivera said during her acceptance speech.
(Making a movie these days is no joke… But we hope that more people will watch and support Filipino movies.)
She thanked Cinemalaya and the people behind “Balota,” saying she learned so much about the current situation of the country through the film. Rivera, who portrayed the role of a teacher, dedicated her award as well to Filipino educators.
The Best Supporting Actress award went to Nadine Lustre for “Uninvited,” while Jeric Raval was named Best Supporting Actor.
