Oscar Piastri Shatters Lando Norris' Lap Record at Zandvoort, Secures Pole

Oscar Piastri will start the Dutch Grand Prix at the front on Sunday.
McLaren Racing driver Oscar Piastri secured the pole position for Sunday’s Dutch Grand Prix at Circuit Zandvoort and broke the lap record previously set by Lando Norris last year, setting the fastest time of 1:08.662 seconds.
McLaren’s MCL39 F1 car has been the dominant force this season, as both Norris and Piastri battle each other with gaps spanning milliseconds. It is predicted that the championship battle between the two drivers will last until the last lap in Abu Dhabi. At present, Piastri leads the Drivers‘ Standings.
The Australian driver has sent out a huge message by beating Norris‘ lap record at Zandvoort. Speaking about securing his pole position by edging out his teammate by 12,000ths of a second, Piastri said:
„Yeah, I mean, that was the definition of peaking at the right time. I think the whole weekend, I felt pretty good, but there’s just been a couple of corners that I’ve not been able to go any faster, and I didn’t really go any faster in those corners, but I found some more elsewhere.
