Every time you search for a bus ticket, pick a seat, or get an unexpected discount, there’s a good chance that the AI at redBus made it happen. Last financial year (FY25) alone, India’s largest bus ticketing platform helped move 233 million passengers. But redBus moves more than just passengers, it moves massive amounts of data, real-time demand patterns, and pricing decisions that change by the minute. And at the heart of it all is AI, stitched deep into the customer journey and the operator ecosystem.“We’ve infused AI not only for customers but also for bus operators,” redBus CTO Anoop Menon tells ET Enterprise AI. “Right from discovery till payment, we have leveraged ML-powered elements for better customer experience.” That means homepage card ranking, personalised search results, persuasive tags, vehicle assignment predictions, and dynamic discounting are all tuned to nudge conversions and click-through rates up.On the supply side, the company’s yield management solution with dynamic pricing and route suggestions “has resulted in significant improvements in the overall operator profitability.”The company’s in-house route suggestion AI tool spots demand-supply gaps and recommends high-yield opportunities. “Routes like Bangalore to Pondicherry and back were massively underutilised because of the demand supply gap which we were able to bridge through sourcing quality bus services from the operators.”
