Fani Willis faces disqualification in Trump case amid controversy and legal battles.
That last time anyone heard from feisty Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis – she of the blockbuster election interference case against Donald Trump and 14 others, which kind of got derailed by an in-house romance with loverboy and special prosecutor Nathan Wade – was this past December. Willis lost her first round at the Georgia Court of Appeals. In their infinite wisdom, the justices there disqualified the Hotlanta number from prosecuting not only Trump’s case, but all of the others, although they did not dismiss the indictments.
Willis appealed, and in the meantime was left to spend the better part of the next year fighting off the building consequences of her imperial approach to running her office.
Ashleigh Merchant, the absolute tigress of a defense attorney whose investigative skills broke the unseemly story of Fani and Wade’s clandestine and illicit romance, was spending more time rooting into the legal basis of the overall prosecution. Proving political motivation for the indictments is critical because Merchant’s client is still one of the people under indictment.
Today, the Georgia Supreme Court rendered its decision on Willis‘ petition to continue as the prosecutor in the Trump case and.declined to hear her pitiful pleas.
As a certain law professor I adore always says, ‚Heh.‘
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis on Tuesday lost her bid to get back on the Georgia election interference case against President Trump — who celebrated by calling her a “disaster.”
The embattled prosecutor was booted from the high-profile case in December by the Georgia Court of Appeals, which cited the “appearance of impropriety” over her affair with the special prosecutor Nathan Wade leading the case.
Georgia’s top court said Tuesday that it would not consider reversing a lower court’s ruling.
Trump cheered the decision on the White House lawn just before he departed for the UK – arguing Willis should be prosecuted.
SOMETIMES KARMA COMES STRAIGHT UP, WITH A LITTLE GREY GOOSE IN A CHILLED MARTINI GLASS
There is much gnashing of teeth ensuing. Some corners were seriously anticipating Willis being reinstated, and now this has blown ‚Get Trump‘ as well as the associated cases all to bits.

Ashleigh Merchant’s client, Michael Roman, who originally hadn’t even been recommended for prosecution, seemed delighted to post the ruling.
