‚The Summer I Turned Pretty’s Lola Tung and Christopher Briney look back on filming Season 3, Episode 11’s steamy sex scene between Belly and Conrad.
From Belly (Lola Tung) and Conrad’s (Christopher Briney) time in Paris and Jeremiah’s (Gavin Casalegno) new romance, to Steven (Sean Kaufman) and Taylor (Rain Spencer) making plans for the future and the announcement of TSITP: The Movie, there was LOTS to love about The Summer I Turned Pretty‘s magical series finale day.
Now that Season 3, Episode 11 is finally out in the world, Tung and Briney are speaking on several standout finale scenes, including that STEAMY Bonrad hookup that still has fans buzzing.
As Decider noted in a previous piece, one of TSITP Season 3 finale’s greatest scenes kicked off with Belly and Conrad kissing for the first time in years. As Taylor Swift’s “Dress” perfectly set the mood, the two passionately made out in the back of a cab, in the stairwell of Belly’s apartment, against a wall, and eventually on her bed. Viewers were hooting, hollering, sweating, and yearning over Belly and Conrad’s chemistry in the scene — but not Tung and Briney! Turns out, they strategically left Wednesday night’s finale screening at the Théâtre Marigny in Paris before Belly and Conrad made it to the bedroom.
“I was sitting in the bar getting hammered,” Briney told Entertainment Weekly in a post-finale interview in Paris. Tung said she also ducked out so she wouldn’t have to watch the intimate scene next to her mom, but she made sure to note, “My mom’s always been really supportive and understands that it’s all a part of the job and art…It was really, really nice that she was there.”
For those wondering what the hot and heavy finale scenes were like to film, the actors confirmed that an intimacy coordinator was used, and both expressed gratitude for how comfortable TSITP creator Jenny Han and director Jesse Peretz made them feel on set.
