After finally being revealed officially, fans are excited for Insomniac’s Wolverine game. Here are 4 Marvel characters we’d love to see appear in it!
During the State of Play presentation for September 2025, Insomniac Game finally gave everyone an official first look at their upcoming Wolverine game. What was very clear from the start was that this would be different from what fans have come to expect from the studio, given their Spider-Man titles were wildly successful. For many people who love Marvel Comics, Wolverine is a character that comes with a lot of grit and tense action, often filled with a bloody aftermath. At the same time, the man with the retractable claws, Logan, also has times when he crosses paths with a variety of characters within the Marvel universe. Whether in conversation or combat, these encounters are what help make his stories so interesting for fans.
With the trailer for Wolverine showing a glimpse at gameplay and the plot, it’s clear that Wolverine will encounter a few familiar faces. Both enemies and allies, there are going to be moments where a certain character shows up and either helps or hinders Logan along his journey, and chances are it will be action-packed. Here are four Marvel characters that everyone would love to see meet up with Logan in some way during the upcoming Wolverine game for PlayStation 5.
Lady Deathstrike

A line between love and hate

Those who remember the X-Men animated television series probably remember the episodes that featured Lady Deathstrike. While it was vastly different from the origins and past of her comic book counterpart, the animated version of Lady Deathstrike is the one most people are familiar with. It was in these stories that fans learned of the romantic past between Logan and Yuriko Oyama. During his travels to Japan, Wolverine falls into love with Yuriko and the two become an item. But tragedy would strike with the death of Yuriko’s father, leading to circumstances that would cause her to gain cybernetic enhancements and adamantium bonded to her bones. She grew hateful of Logan and constantly pursued killing him as part of her revenge-fueled anger for the death of her father.
Part of the upcoming Wolverine game will take Logan to Tokyo, Japan. What exactly he’ll be doing there or the exact reason why he must travel to Japan is not yet known. But whatever is happening there should draw the attention of characters like Lady Deathstrike, especially if the game draws any inspiration from the animated X-men stories about Wolverine himself. Besides the fights with Japanese warriors that could take place during his exploits in the country, a reunion and clash with Lady Deathstrike would be a very interesting wrench to throw into the mix. Aside from Jean Grey in the X-Men, Lady Deathstrike is one of the more noteworthy love interests for Logan that has been tumultuous and worthy of exploring further.
Cyclops

Rivals and allies

The ongoing rivalry and clashes between Wolverine and Cyclops in the X-Men is legendary among comic book fans. Nearly every piece of X-Men-related media features the two characters always bickering or being at odds, even when they are supporting one-another on the same team.
