The last few days haven’t been great for AMD’s Radeon team due to miscommunication with their users in the recent Adrenalin 25.10.2 driver release. The driver’s changelog mentioned that the older RDNA 1 & RDNA 2 GPUs will be moved to a separate branch, and the respective Radeon RX 5000 & RX 6000 GPUs will be moved to „Maintenance Mode“. There was also the removal of USB-C power charging from the RX 7900 series, but that was reverted. There was also the package size being increased to over 1 GB. But the major one was the driver support.
After this, AMD started giving out statements to tech pubs that it wasn’t removing game driver support & game optimizations from older GPUs, but instead, would deliver them as per the market needs. This didn’t clear the confusion since AMD didn’t explain what „market needs“ meant. Today, AMD has cleared up the confusion and offered a statement regarding Radeon GPU driver support.
