While performance mods are fantastic, some of the most exciting mods are those that overhaul Fallout: New Vegas entirely and make it feel new.
Modding is the lifeblood of most Bethesda titles. The Elder Scrolls and Fallout franchises aren’t without their problems, but it’s thanks to the talented and passionate modding community that these games are still alive. Few modding scenes can match the quality content made for Skyrim and Fallout: New Vegas. Considering the game’s age, Fallout: New Vegas still sees massive overhauls and quest mods nearly every year. Some mods greatly improve the game’s performance, while others add a barrage of new quests. While performance mods are fantastic, the best Fallout: New Vegas mods can make it feel like a brand-new game.
The sheer amount of modding support this game still enjoys even now is a great indication of why so many people love Fallout: New Vegas to bits. The game was a triumph in every way, combining the best of old and new Fallout to make for a tantalizing experience that doesn’t really have an equal. While the bugs that marred this game at launch led to both fans and critics bashing the title for being rushed out the window, the steady stream of updates, coupled with fan patches have made the experience more stable than ever before, letting players enjoy a masterful RPG where the possibilities are just endless.

OJO BUENO Texture Pack
Mod created by tapioks (Nexus Mods)
As fun as Fallout: New Vegas is, it’s undeniable that its graphics are a bit outdated by today’s standards. Back when the game was released, this might not have been as noticeable as it is now. However, thanks to a few mods such as the OJO Bueno Texture Pack, tons of in-game textures can be replaced so they look a lot better, and the gaming experience is elevated significantly.
Most modern graphics cards should be able to run this texture pack on Ultra settings, as only 4GB of VRAM is required. 34
Performance Of The Titans
Mod created by Inthegrave (GGMods)
Fallout: New Vegas has come a long way since its buggy launch that threatened to overshadow one of the best RPGs of the 21st century. Nowadays, you can download the vanilla version and have a good time without encountering too many issues and game-breaking bugs; however, the game’s performance is hardly flawless and has room for improvement, which plenty of mods have sought to fill. Performance of the Titans is just one example, and it focuses exclusively on improving things in the background rather than the foreground.
Now, admittedly, this mod’s changes might not seem all that „game-changing“ at a glance, since players won’t see anything directly. However, it tweaks and optimizes so many objects and effects that everything combines to create a far smoother experience. 33
FNV Realistic Wasteland Lighting
Mod created by sal203 (Nexus Mods)
Although Fallout: New Vegas is a masterpiece, it can’t be denied that its outdoor lighting isn’t the best, which can affect immersion and the overall gaming experience.
