E3 2018 is nearly upon us, and there are a ton of huge game announcements rumored for the show this year. Here are all the biggest games rumored for E3 2018.
There’s a reason why gamers look forward to E3 every year. Not only does the show give fans a chance to learn more about already-announced titles, but it’s also used by video game companies to shock the industry with surprise game announcements. There are many surprise game announcements rumored for E3 2018, and it will be exciting to see if any of them are accurate.
Some companies hosting press conferences, like Electronic Arts, haven’t had much in the way of leaks leading up to the show. EA will be showcasing the likes of Anthem and Battlefield V at E3, but just because there haven’t been many rumors about other EA titles at the show, that doesn’t mean fans aren’t still in for some surprises.
Bethesda gave fans a pair of pre-E3 surprises when it announced Rage 2, which was previously leaked by Walmart, as well as Fallout 76. Bethesda will pull the curtain back on Fallout 76 at its E3 2018 press conference, where it should address rumors that the game will be an online multiplayer survival title.
In the meantime, there haven’t been many rumors about what else Bethesda has in store for fans except for the announcement of new Prey DLC, and a Fallout 3 remaster. Details on what this remaster will entail are scarce, but it will apparently be called Fallout 3 Anniversary and is in development for multiple platforms, including the Nintendo Switch.
By its own admission, Microsoft has had difficulty delivering console-exclusive games to the Xbox One on a consistent basis. At E3 2018, the company has the chance to reverse public opinion on its exclusives lineup, and if any of the rumors surrounding its lineup are true, then it may very well get the job done.
Earlier this year, unconfirmed reports claimed that Fable 4 is in active development at Playground Games, the studio best known for its work on the Forza Horizon series. These reports still have yet to be proven, but with Microsoft recently purchasing Playground Games, it’s clear that the publisher has a vested interest in the studio. If Fable 4 is in development as rumored, maybe an announcement will come at E3.
Besides Fable, Microsoft is apparently set to leverage some of its other big franchises at the show as well. This includes Gears of War, which is rumored to have the biggest presence at the show in the form of three new games being announced. These games include Gears of War 5, a Gears of War battle royale spinoff, and a Gears of War strategy game in the vein of Halo Wars.
Microsoft’s flagship franchise is also expected to make an appearance during its E3 2018 press conference. The rumor is that a project called Halo Infinity will be announced at E3, but whether or not it’s meant to be Halo 6 or something else entirely remains to be seen.
First-party games may be the main focus of Microsoft’s E3 2018 press conference, but the company is also expected to give a proper introduction to Rocksteady’s rumored Superman game. Apparently, Superman: World’s Finest will be announced during Microsoft’s press conference, where it will be revealed that Brainiac is the game’s main villain.
Here’s the rundown of the biggest games rumored for Microsoft’s E3 2018 press conference:
Nintendo is enjoying a serious comeback with the Nintendo Switch after the general sales failure that was the Wii U. Considering this, the Big N will want to keep the momentum going at E3, and if some leaks and rumors are to be believed, it will be an E3 Nintendo Direct to remember.
A supposedly leaked document claims that Nintendo will be announcing a number of new first-party games at E3 this year, including Fire Emblem Memories, F-Zero SX, Punch-Out!! Become the Champion, and more. Nintendo is also expected to pull the curtain back on Metroid Prime 4, apparently renamed to Metroid Prime: Renegade, as well as confirm the longstanding rumor that Fortnite is being ported to the Switch.
As far as hardware goes, Nintendo is rumored to be announcing the Nintendo 64 Mini at E3. There is some evidence to back this claim up, so it will be interesting to see if Nintendo follows through.
If a supposedly leaked rundown of Sony’s E3 2018 press conference is accurate, we already know all the games the company plans on showcasing at the event. This includes games like Bloodborne 2 and SOCOM: Coalition, but the rumored surprise games at Sony’s show seem to mainly consist of third-party titles.
For example, rumor has it that the Resident Evil 2 remake will be properly unveiled during Sony’s press conference, where it will be revealed that the game has optional PlayStation VR support. Resident Evil 2 remake publisher Capcom is expected to make another splash at Sony’s press conference with the reveal of Devil May Cry 5, which has been rumored for months.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake, which was first announced at Sony’s E3 event a few years ago, is also rumored to be making appearance alongside the unannounced BioShock Resurgence.
Out of all the games rumored for Sony’s press conference, though, one of the most surprising is PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Microsoft has supported PUBG‘s entrance into the console market by pushing it on the Xbox One, going as far as to bundle the game with Xbox One X consoles. It would be surprising to see Microsoft let PUBG slip through its fingers and land on the PS4 storefront, but at E3, anything is possible.
Here are all the biggest games rumored for Sony’s E3 2018 press conference:
It’s not every year that Square Enix hosts an E3 press conference, so fans of the publisher are understandably excited to see what it has in store. We know that Kingdom Hearts 3 and Shadow of the Tomb Raider will both be featured, but it’s probable that Square Enix has some surprises up its sleeve as well.
One potential surprise is the first footage and details for The Avengers project that was announced last year. Rumors indicate that the project has been retooled to be a reboot of the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games, but fans will have to wait until Square Enix’s E3 2018 press conference to be sure.
One potential Ubisoft E3 2018 surprise was the reveal of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, which leaked ahead of time and was then confirmed by the company. However, just because Assassin’s Creed Odyssey leaked, that doesn’t mean Ubisoft doesn’t have any other surprises in store for fans.
