On Monday’s episode of „The Andrew Klavan Show,“ bestselling author Andrew Klavan explained the mistake President Trump made with Vladimir Putin at their Helsinki summit — and how he actually fell into the same logical trap that the left often does.
Trump’s mistakes, said Klavan, are always „left-wing mistakes.“ As an example, Klavan pointed to Trump’s big summit with Putin on Monday. „If you pay attention when [Trump] makes a real faux pas, as I think he did this morning, it’s always a left-wing mistake,“ said Klavan. „You have to remember that Trump spent most of his life as a Democrat, kind of trending to the left, and then he slowly became what we call ‚politically mature.‘ Now I think he’s been a great conservative president, he really has been, but I’ve seen him do this before.
„The left likes to compare ‚apples to dictators,‘ right?“ he continued. „They treat the things that happen in our country as if they were the same as things that happen in a genuinely oppressive country. So you make a comment they don’t like – you’re Hitler. If a gay guy has to drive an extra half a mile to get a wedding cake, it’s like he’s oppressed. They didn’t throw him off a roof, but they wouldn’t give him those florets he likes on his cake because he’s gay so he’s oppressed. They’re comparing apples to dictators, and Donald Trump did that… A reporter asked him about the relationships between Russia and America, and Trump had tweeted out that we were ‚both to blame.'“
