Families flocked to the Jackson Area Polish Heritage Festival at St. Joseph’s Oratory this weekend for homemade food and live music.
JACKSON, MI – Families flocked to the Jackson Area Polish Heritage Festival at St. Joseph’s Oratory Saturday, July 28, for homemade food and live music.
The festival, which began in the 1950’s as an ice cream social, evolved in the 1970’s into the festival it is today.
The free event, which started Saturday with a Polish mass at 4 p.m., features golumbki dinners, kielbasa, beer and live music from Randy Wrozek and the Hy-notes.
„We like to enjoy the polish food,“ said Linda Kavan of Parma who has been attending the festival for over 15 years. „It’s homemade, we know what’s in it and it’s delicious.“
For the younger attendees, the festival features a petting zoo with pony rides and a game tent.
The festival continues from noon until 6:30 p.m. Sunday at 705 N. Waterloo St.
