President Trump ’s attorney Rudy Giuliani on Wednesday called for special counsel Robert Mueller to „put up or shut up“ as the president’s legal team offers increasingly pointed criticism of the federal Russia probe.
„We believe that the [Mueller] investigation should be brought to a close,“ Giuliani told reporters. „We think they’re at the end of it. They should render their report.“
„I mean, I guess if we were playing poker, ‚put up or shut up,'“ he continued. „What do you got?“
Trump on Wednesday morning called for Attorney General Jeff Sessions to shut down Mueller’s investigation into possible ties between Trump campaign associates and Russia. The president issued the call on the second day of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort ’s trial on bank and fraud charges in Virginia.
„This is a terrible situation and Attorney General Jeff Sessions should stop this Rigged Witch Hunt right now, before it continues to stain our country any further,“ Trump tweeted. „Bob Mueller is totally conflicted, and his 17 Angry Democrats that are doing his dirty work are a disgrace to USA!“

Giuliani on Wednesday also repeated the claim that Mueller’s investigation was started by controversial FBI counterintelligence agent Peter Strzok, despite the Mueller probe launching after Trump fired former FBI Director James Comey .
„We have every reason to believe they don’t have anything,“ Giuliani said Wednesday. „I don’t think they have any evidence he did anything wrong.“
Mueller so far has indicted or secured guilty pleas from 32 individuals, including four former Trump aides.
