Tiger Woods has had his chances on the second nine in the third round. He simply cannot make a birdie putt. Simple as that.

Another good birdie chance for Tiger at 14. Another miss. He’s five back of Brooks Koepka, and it might be more soon with Koepka just overpowering Bellerive in the third round.
Brooks Koepka is making it looking easy. He’s not recorded a bogey in 40 holes and is -12 in his last 36. Has opened up a 3-shot lead after a front-nine 30.
Brooks Koepka has gained 5.3 strokes off the tee this week. Nobody else has gained more than 3.3 strokes… and he’s just finished shooting 30 (-5) on the front nine!

Brooks Koepka just turned in 5-under 30. He’s trying to run away and hide from the pack.
Brooks Koepka, Rickie Fowler, Adam Scott, Tiger Woods, Francesco Molinari, and Justin Thomas… Those names big enough for ya at the top of the leaderboard?
Tiger Woods had good chances at No. 12 and No. 13 for birdie. He couldn’t convert either. While he was writing pars on his scorecard, Brooks Koepka was making his lead a little bigger.
Tiger’s birdie at No. 12 slides by the side. Four straight pars. Like everyone else, he’s still chasing Brooks Koepka.
Jordan Spieth had not made a bogey in 28 holes. He just made triple at No. 12.
After the club twirl of confidence off the 11th tee, Tiger Woods hits a so-so wedge shot to 21′ and misses birdie, keeping him at -8 and three shots back.
Adam Scott makes a birdie on the 8th hole to get to -9 and two shots back of the lead. Would LOVE to see him win using that broomstick putter!!
If Tiger Woods breaks through and ends his major championship drought come Sunday evening, he might point to that 10-footer he just made on No. 10 to save par.
If they’re not careful Brooks Koepka may just start bench pressing the field. pic.twitter.com/LnreFMT5Xq
Brooks Koepka with another birdie! This one at the 5th hole. It’s Brooks 3rd birdie in 5 holes again giving him the solo lead at -11.

The 5 birdies for Tiger Woods over the opening 9 of the third round are the most he’s made in a 9-hole stretch at a major since the fourth round of the 2011 Masters. He’s never made 6 over nine holes in his major career.
Tiger Woods posts five-birdie, one-bogey front side 31. He’s gone from being on the periphery of contention to right there in the thick of it. When he got in the mix at Carnoustie, he struggled. Will be an interesting second nine.
As the day progresses you can see some guys shaking their heads as the greens get bumpier. Hasn’t put a huge damper on scoring yet as the leaders are only playing the 5th hole.
