The OnePlus 6 is still pretty fresh in our minds, but we have already started with the first round of reports on its successor, the OnePlus 6T. OnePlus has been following a half-yearly cycle for a while now and those who have been holding out buying the OnePlus 6 in anticipation of the T model, may not have to wait that long. A new report claims the OnePlus 6T will launch in October and adds that T-Mobile will be the exclusive carrier for the OnePlus 6T in the US.
CNET reports citing sources familiar with the launch plans that OnePlus will be making a specific, optimised version of the OnePlus 6T for T-Mobile network in the US. Partnering with a carrier will likely help OnePlus boost its brand awareness in the US where it is still not a household name. Until now, OnePlus has been going it alone and has steadily built up a following. „Getting carrier shelf space is a prerequisite to volume sales in the US,“ said Avi Greengart, an analyst at Global Data.
The report adds that OnePlus will continue to sell its global unlocked model in the US that will support either AT&T or T-Mobile. Sources also say that the OnePlus 6T will follow OnePlus‘ aggressive pricing model and could launch the device at around $550, although nothing is finalised as of now. OnePlus is likely planning an October launch of the 6T, which is pretty quick even by OnePlus‘ standards. The OnePlus 6 was launched around three months ago in May.
Rumours surrounding the OnePlus 6T are still slim and there is not much that we know about the device right now. There are reports that the design will see some change, especially with regards to the notched display. Now that the Oppo R17 and F9 are out, it is largely assumed that the OnePlus 6T will be inspired by their Waterdrop screen that brings a tiny droplet-shaped notch. The phone will obviously be powered by a Snapdragon 845 chipset since the next flagship Qualcomm processor won’t see the light of day until next year.
If the OnePlus 6T is indeed being planned for October, we should see OnePlus start teasing the device in the coming weeks.
