ANN ARBOR — Michigan football is opening the doors to practice this weekend.
The program will hold a one-hour, open practice this Sunday, Aug. 26, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Michigan Stadium, it was announced Wednesday.
Gates 1,2 and 10 to Michigan Stadium will open at 5:30 p.m. Fans are permitted to sit on the east side of the stadium, from Section 7 to 39. Concourse restrooms, concession stands and M-Den locations will be open, according to a release.
After practice ends, kids and their families will be allowed 30 minutes on the field (which includes new turf).
The announcement comes after Michigan preemptively canceled its spring game in April due to weather. Practices in the spring and fall have been closed to the public, including media.
The open practice would give the public a glimpse of Michigan’s new-look offense, including newly appointed starting quarterback Shea Patterson.
As usual, normal prohibited items will not be allowed into Michigan Stadium and all patrons are subject to a security search. Parking in lots around the stadium, and at Pioneer High School, will be free of charge.
Michigan opens the 2018 season on Sept. 1 at Notre Dame.
