One Piece World Seeker looks better and better with each trailer. While early footage focused on the game’s playful combat and open world, the latest trailer digs into the story. Here’s the elevator pitch: After a devastating war, a society called Jewel Island has begun the rebuild process. Its people are divided into two camps, those who support the authoritarian navy that has controlled the reconstruction of the island and the anti-navy resistance force fighting to retain the culture’s traditions.
For fans of the series, the trailer introduces a new character: Jeanne, the leader of the anti-navy movement. For folks less familiar with the series, like myself, the open world, colorful design and story of political dissent are giving me serious Gravity Rush vibes. Since we’ll probably never get Gravity Rush 3, World Seeker may be the right game to fill that void.
One Piece World Seeker will be released in 2019 on PlayStation 4, Windows PC (via Steam) and Xbox One.
