Bill Cosby should be slammed with a maximum 30 years behind bars, said a weeping accuser Sunday, on the eve of his sentencing for felony sex assault.
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Bill Cosby should be slammed with a maximum 30 years behind bars, said a weeping accuser Sunday, on the eve of his sentencing for felony sex assault.
“I waited 32 years to speak — 32 years,” Chelan Lasha — who claims she was 17 when Cosby drugged and molested her — said through tears when asked what sentence she thought the perverted 81-year-old entertainer deserved.
“What’s 30 years compared to the years and decades of pain that he has brought on so many women?” Lasha said. “I have nightmares every single day, and I want them to go away, just like him.”
Cosby faces anywhere from zero to 30 years behind bars for the 2004 sex assault of former Temple basketball administrator Andrea Constand. Jurors in April convicted him on three charges of aggravated indecent assault in a retrial of the case.
His sentencing is expected to span Monday and Tuesday.
Lasha spoke while flanked by attorney Gloria Allred, and fellow Cosby accuser Maud Lise-Lotte Lublin, who like Lasha is among dozens of women who claim the fallen TV star sexually abused or even raped them.
It’s still not clear whether Lasha and Lublin will get the chance to speak at Cosby’s sentencing. They, along with Janice Baker-Kinney and supermodel Janice Dickinson, already testified against the disgraced comedian at Constand’s trial.
At trial, Lasha said she met with “America’s Dad” for an audition at a Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas, after he told her he thought he might have a part for her in “The Cosby Show.”
Instead, she says, he gave her a pill to “break up” her cold — and she then found herself immobilized on the bed, with Cosby humping her leg, grunting, and fondling her breast.
Lublin has said she met with Cosby for improv lessons in a Vegas hotel in 1989 and “blacked out” after Cosby gave her two shots of booze to “help her relax.”
Allred said she and her clients were still waiting to learn if they’d be allowed to address the court before Montgomery County Court Judge Steven O’Neill hands down his sentence.
The two Cosby accusers said they hoped they’d be given the chance.
“Absolutely,” Lublin said when asked if she’d like to speak. “It’s important to us.”
Allred added, “He should not receive probation. He should not be sentenced to house arrest.
“Judgement day has finally arrived.”
