Xiaomi Mi Band 3 Commemorative Edition With NFC Support Announced to Mark 50 Million Sales Milestone
The Mi Band 3 NFC version is largely similar to the standard version except for one major difference. As the name makes it quite clear, the Mi Band 3 NFC version uses the NXP PN80T secure NFC module, allowing owners to use it for contactless payments with Mi Pay as well as for bus card payments in more than 160 cities including Beijing, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou. In the future, Mi Band 3 NFC version users will also be able to use the wearable to unlock smart door locks.
One of the key highlights of the Mi Band 3 is a large 0.78-inch OLED display with 128 x 80 pixels resolution and scratch-resistant glass layer on top. Thanks to the larger display size, the Mi Band 3 can display much more than just the step count and time. It can also display notifications from various apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Messages, and more. The wearable comes with a photoplethysmography (PPG) heart-rate sensor, capable of providing heart rate data in real-time. When it comes to fitness tracking features, Xiaomi says the Mi Band 3 comes with improved activity tracking. It can display real-time data for various physical activities such as running, cycling, walking, and even swimming. Similar to most of its rivals, the Xiaomi Mi Band 3 comes with a 5ATM (50 meters) water resistance rating. In terms of battery life, the Mi Band 3 packs a 110mAh Li Ion polymer battery, which is claimed to provide up to 20 days of standby time. While the battery life figure might be identical to the Mi Band 2, you should keep in mind that the Mi Band 3 offers a larger display and more functions.
