The iPhone XR with its 3GB of RAM managed to hold off an 8GB model of Galaxy Note9 in the recent speed test result. While there wasn’t a significant difference between the speed of the two phones, the iPhone XR ( review) was marginally (15-millisecond to be exact) faster than the Note9 ( review). The biggest catch here is that even with 5GB less RAM, the iPhone XR was able to match up to Samsung ‘s flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Note9.
As per the video posted by YouTuber PhoneBuff, the iPhone XR in the first lap of launching the apps took a handsome lead of 15-seconds, but the Note9 quickly covered it up in the second lap. The A12 Bionic chip paired with 3GB of RAM helped the iPhone to launch the bunch of apps such as Subway Surfers, Flip Diving, Excel, and Word in no time. However, the handset kind of lost the pace in the second lap where it wasn’t able to load the apps stored in its memory as quickly.
The Note9 with Snapdragon 845 SoC and 8GB of RAM, on the other hand, took time to launch the apps first. But once they were stored in the handset’s memory, the apps re-loaded pretty quickly. Samsung’s device clocked just 33.08 seconds in the second round compared to iPhone XR which took 46.52 seconds.
Previously, the iPhone XS Max was pitted against Samsung’s latest Note-series phone in the app launching speed test, and Apple flagship smartphone was triumphed with 14 seconds to spare. Notably, the iPhone XS Max houses 4GB of RAM and the same A12 Bionic Chip as the iPhone XR whereas the Note9 employs 8GB of RAM and Snapdragon 845/ Exynos 9810.
