Red Dead Redemption 2 publisher Take-Two Interactive has revealed that the Red Dead Online beta release date is due for later this month.
While most players are still exploring every inch of Red Dead Redemption 2 for the likes of rock carvings and weird secrets, many also can’t wait to jump into the online side. Red Dead Online, the series’ equivalent of Rockstar’s phenomenally successful GTA Online, is on its way, but when do players get to try it out? Well, it could be sooner than you think, as publisher Take-Two Interactive has just revealed that the Red Dead Online beta release date is due for later this month.
In an earnings call conference this week (spotted by IGN), Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed that “[ Red Dead Online] will launch in public beta towards the end of the month… Rockstar will have a lot more to say about it.” That’s right, the Red Dead Online beta release date is just a couple of weeks from now, at most. Rockstar’s previously said that it will be “blending narrative with competitive and cooperative gameplay in fun new ways” for the Red Dead Redemption 2 multiplayer. We should certainly expect something similar to GTA Online, with horse racing, gambling, heists, bounty hunting, player gangs, and a continuously evolving game world.
Of course, the biggest question is whether it will have a battle royale mode to compete with Fortnite. It’s long been rumored, and various versions of battle royale have appeared in GTA Online, so we would not at all be surprised. If Black Ops 4 can do it, Red Dead Redemption 2 certainly can.
