Hinterland Music Festival announced Tuesday an expansion in 2019 to three nights of beloved Americana, roots and indie rock music.
The festival returns Aug. 2-4,2019 to the Avenue Saints of the Amphitheater in St. Charles. With the added day, festivalgoers could see the Hinterland lineup grow from 12 acts in previous years to as many as 20 next summer, organizers said.

Friday: The Envy Corps, TV on the Radio, Future Islands and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
Saturday: Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear, Joe Pug, Justin Townes Earle, St. Paul and The Broken Bones, Lucius, Yonder Mountain String Band, Brandi Carlile and Old Crow Medicine Show
The festival initially planned to take place at Water Works Park in Des Moines, but relocated — due to park flooding — to St. Charles days before campers were set to arrive.
Friday: San Fermin, Houndmouth, Cold War Kids and Ray LaMontagne
Saturday: Field Division, William Elliott Whitmore, Pokey LaFarge, Hayes Carll, Turnpike Troubadours, Shovels & Rope, Lake Street Dive, Grace Potter and Willie Nelson
Behind country legend Willie Nelson, Hinterland welcomed about 18,500 festivalgoers in two days. Hinterland organizers introduced the after-hours „Campfire“ stage, featuring local and touring songwriters who perform following the main stage headliner.
Friday: Annalibera, Foxygen, The Head and the Heart and alt-J
Saturday: Max Jury, The Cactus Blossoms, JD McPherson, Nikki Lane, Shakey Graves, Dwight Yoakam, Gary Clark Jr. and Ryan Adams
The Hinterland stage and campgrounds grew to accommodate bigger tour productions and more overnight campers.

Friday: Ancient Posse, Tash Sultana, Chvrches and Band of Horses
Saturday: The Nadas, Tyler Childers, J Roddy Walston and the Business, Anderson East, Margo Price, Blackberry Smoke, Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats and Sturgill Simpson
Hinterland welcomed a single-day record 11,300 attendees on Saturday and hosted a record estimate 7,000 campers throughout the weekend.
