Netflix has made its ambitions to get into the comic book adaptation space known ever since it signed on the dotted line with Marvel back in 2013. However, with that deal ending and a new deal with Millarworld still in the development phase, the streamer needs something to fill in the superhero gap, and the answer to that dilemma may have finally come in the form of the company’s latest, The Umbrella Academy.
Based on the comic book series of the same name, The Umbrella Academy follows the lives of seven individuals all born on the same day to women who were not pregnant when the day began. Taken in by an eccentric millionaire, the children are turned into a superhero team known as The Umbrella Academy. But, while great on paper, there comes a time when everyone realizes family can’t be forced together unwillingly.
