Clermont County Public Health warned today that the number of COVID-19 cases in the county is increasing and urged people to renew their commitment to safety precautions.
“As more businesses across Ohio begin to reopen, new cases of COVID-19 have been increasing in Clermont County and southwest Ohio,” the county health department said in a press release.
“Clermont County Public Health urges residents to continue to take precautions against the virus.”

The health department reported today that it is tracking 288 cases of COVID-19 in Clermont County, just one more than on Monday.
But Clermont County Public Health was tracking 27 cases on April 6,104 cases on May 6 and 232 cases on June 8.
Testing for the illness caused by the new coronavirus has slowly ramped up in the county.
For example, the health department announced April 27 that it had received 150 COVID-19 test kits.
“We can’t say for sure if the increase in numbers is due to increased testing, but it’s likely a factor,” Keith Robinson, a spokesman for Clermont Public Health, told The Enquirer.
Robinson said the health department doesn’t know how many tests have been performed in the county.
“We are only notified of positive cases,” Robinson said.
“So, if a person is tested and the result is negative, we would not be notified.”
Clermont County Health Commissioner Julianne Nesbit said in the press release that, “Now that summer is here, we know that people are anxious for life to return to normal.
“But, this virus will be with us for a while, and the changes we are all making to our lifestyle need to be long-term changes to prevent the spread.”

Meanwhile, the 288 COVID-19 cases Clermont County Public Health reported it is tracking Tuesday include 271 confirmed cases, one more than on Monday, and 17 probable ones, the same as on Monday.
Probable cases involve people who show symptoms of COVID-19 but have not been tested for the illness or diagnosed with another disease.
Some 49 of the Clermont County residents the health department is tracking are hospitalized, three more than on Monday, and 221 have recovered, four more than on Monday.
Clermont County Public Health has reported six COVID-19 deaths, including five confirmed and one probable, with the last being on June 5.

A sixth Clermont County resident being tracked for COVID-19 by the county’s health department has died.
The resident was an 81-year-old man with other underlying health conditions who had tested positive for the illness caused by the coronavirus, Keith Robinson, a spokesman for Clermont County Public Health, said Monday.
Robinson said the man had been hospitalized but was home when he died June 5.

Clermont County agencies reported Tuesday that they have distributed more than 145,000 pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE) to healthcare workers and first responders whose jobs put them at risk during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Officials with Clermont County Public Health and the Clermont County Emergency Management Agency said the distribution within the county included:
“We know there has been a limited supply of PPE across the country. The shipments we have received will fill the void and allow local agencies extra time to purchase their necessary supply of PPE, as the supply chain increases,” Pam Haverkos, director of the Clermont County Emergency Management Agency, said.
Clermont County Public Health has received 11 shipments of personal protective equipment from a combination of state and federal sources.
The health department also hosted two personal protective equipment donation drives in March that attracted goods from local businesses, school districts and citizens.
“Preserving the PPE supply in our healthcare facilities is one of the reasons we’ve been practicing social distancing and staying at home,” Clermont County Health Commissioner Julianne Nesbit said.
“This will be a long-term response, so PPE will always be in high demand for those on the frontlines, but we’re thankful we’ve been able to help our local partners stretch their supply.”
Clermont County Public Health also reported Tuesday that it is tracking 193 cases of COVID-19.
The number includes 183 confirmed cases and 10 probable ones. Probable cases involve people who show symptoms of COVID-19 but have not been tested for the illness caused by the new coronavirus or diagnosed with another disease.
