2:20 p.m.: Outside of the courthouse, dozens called for the Des Moines police spokesman and hurled insults at officers.
Several protesters were wearing masks to mitigate concerns about spreading the coronavirus. Many of the Polk County sheriff’s deputies were wearing masks, but a handful of Des Moines police had no face coverings.
A woman said she asked a police captain why „he felt he didn’t have to wear a mask.“
“He said he has bigger things to deal with,“ Daina Faust said.
