More than 125,000 Americans are hospitalized due to the virus, and a new Covid-19 variant has been discovered in California and Colorado.
The United States reported 3,744 new coronavirus deaths on Wednesday, the highest one-day total since the start of the pandemic, exceeding the previous record of 3,725 deaths set Tuesday, as the third wave of the virus continues to wreak havoc across the country and a new variant of Covid-19 has now been detected in two states. The first known coronavirus case in the U.S. was identified 11 months ago in Washington State, yet December has been the deadliest month of the pandemic thus far. The virus has killed nearly 70,000 Americans in December alone, nearly double the total number of fatalities recorded in November. However, some health experts fear that January could be even graver. The TSA announced that more than 1.1 million people were screened at airports last Saturday.
