Jan.12 (UPI) — The Joint Chiefs of Staff released a memo Tuesday calling last week’s events in Washington, D.C. „a direct assault on the U.S. Congress, the Capitol building, and our Constitutional process.“ „We witnessed actions inside the Capitol building that were inconsistent with the rule of law,“ said the memo, which has been reported on by multiple media outlets and circulated on social media. „The rights of freedom of speech and assembly do not give anyone the right to resort to violence, sedition and insurrection,“ the Joint Chiefs wrote.
