One of the world’s better known women’s soccer teams is apologizing for a tweet in which one of its players is wearing a field marker resembling an Asian-influenced headdress and using her fingers to slant her eyes. “We sincerely apologise that our tweet, which was not meant to cause controversy or have any racial undertones, may have offended anyone,” the Italian soccer club tweeted after taking down the offensive image.
