Fred regained tropical storm status Sunday morning, and continues to move through the Gulf of Mexico along a north-northwest path. The storm has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph, according to an advisory issued at 11 a.m. EDT from the National Hurricane Center. Tropical Storm Fred is forecast to gradually strengthen until it makes landfall near the western Florida panhandle Monday evening. A tropical storm warning is in effect from Navarre to the Wakulla-Jefferson County line. Tropical storm conditions are expected in the warning area within 24 hours, according to the NHC.
