Activision has announced that Infinity Ward is developing the next installment of the Call of Duty franchise, which is set to arrive later this year, as a sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019. The company says the next Call of Duty will also feature a significant update to Warzone, the battle royale mode that was released alongside Modern Warfare 2019 and has received numerous updates even after the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard in late 2021. „Expect a massive evolution of Battle Royale with all-new playspace and a new sandbox mode,“ Activision says, adding that „a new engine powers both the new Call of Duty game release and Warzone.
