Meta’s Quest 3s is a cheaper alternative to the current Quest 3 model and will have the ability to seamlessly connect to Windows 11 computers.
Meta Connect 2024 kicked off on September 25, and it was a smorgasboard of reveals. Meta started the event strong by unveiling the new Quest 3S headset. Let’s go over everything we know about the Quest 3S: its price, hardware, features, and more.
A week before Meta Connect, there was a big leak that mentioned bundles not shown at the event. This has led us to believe that perhaps there is more in the pipeline for the headset than what Meta told us.
When will the Meta Quest 3S launch and how much will it cost?
Both configurations are slated to launch on October 15 in the United States. Preorders are currently live over on Meta’s digital storefront. If you preorder the Quest 3S, you’ll also get a pair of Touch Plus Controllers, a power adapter, a subscription to Meta Quest Plus, and a copy of Batman: Arkham Shadow.
What does the Meta Quest 3S look like?
The Quest 3S looks quite different from the Quest 3. It sports what online reports have called a „spider-eyes appearance“. Instead of a vertical camera system, the lenses on the new model sit in a triangle formation on both sides. According to the product page, the headset offers the „same mixed reality experience as Quest 3, with [4.5 times] the resolution and color compared to Quest 2.“
Virtual objects will supposedly be shown in „high-definition resolution“, giving them a life-like appearance. Coupled with the surround sound, the visual fidelity aims to enhance the immersive experience.
