The Chiefs traded a lower draft pick than the Jets and Bills did for their mid-season acquisitions, and the Titans likely will pay a chunk of Hopkins‘ salary.
The Kansas City Chiefs had a dire need at wide receiver.
With Marquise “Hollywood” Brown (shoulder) and Rashee Rice (knee) already out for the regular season, JuJu Smith-Schuster will miss Sunday’s game at the Las Vegas Raiders with a hamstring injury.
In fact, even though Rice was injured in Week Four, he remains the team’s leading receiver with 288 receiving yards.
That’s why Chiefs general manager Brett Veach, who’s always aggressive on the trade market, acquired DeAndre Hopkins.
Though the NFL reported it on its X account, Hopkins hasn’t officially signed his contract, meaning head coach Andy Reid couldn’t comment on it.
“I know nothing,” Reid said while smirking.
The sure-handed receiver is a five-time Pro Bowler with seven 1,000-yard seasons to his name.
