Dmitry Bakanov, head of Russia’s space agency, says the country is „moving at a rapid pace“ to develop its own satellite internet service, with deployments planned for December.
The Kremlin is working with a Russian company called Bureau 1440, which was founded in 2020 with Russian mobile carrier MegaFon. Its satellite constellation is designed to operate in low-Earth orbit—800 kilometers compared with Starlink’s 350 to 550km orbits.
