NewsHubJackie Chan’s “Railroad Tigers” bowed into theaters this weekend, grossing $127,600 from just 42 theaters.
Well Go USA’s film averaged around $3,038 from each location. “Railroad Tigers” is set in 1941, with Chan starring as railroad worker Ma Yuan, who leads a team of fearless fighters to stop the Japanese war effort.
The film stars Huang Zitao (“Edge of Innocence”), Wang Kai (“Nirvana in Fire”) and Darren Wang (“Our Times”).

This weekend also marked the second run for A24’s “20th Century Women,” which took in $142,824 from 10 screens, bringing its cumulative total up to $395,412. The film starring Annette Bening, Elle Fanning and Greta Gerwig saw a 28.4 percent increase in box office revenue from the its opening three-day weekend, where it earned $11,200 from four theaters.
“Paterson,” starring Adam Driver, grossed $70,268 in its second weekend at the indie box office, with its total now amounting to $221,960. The Bleecker Street/Amazon Studios film had a 1.3 percent increase from last weekend, when it grossed $69,335 from four locations.

With the Golden Globes being handed out on Sunday, other awards contenders had solid performances at the specialty box office this weekend, as well. Martin Scorsese’s “Silence,” in its third week, earned $480,000 from 51 theaters, bringing its total up to $862,000.
