Three years after selling Oculus to Facebook, Palmer Luckey, the man behind the Oculus Rift concept, is leaving the company. Facebook declined to say whether his departure was voluntary.
Oculus co-founder Palmer Luckey, the primary inventor of the Oculus Rift headset and its first prototypes, is leaving the company three years after selling to Facebook.
In an official statement, Facebook said:
Facebook declined to say whether Luckey’s departure was voluntary, citing a company policy of not commenting on internal personnel matters.
Last year, Luckey came under controversy when it was revealed he contributed to a right-wing political group called Nimble America that used online trolling tactics to damage the 2016 presidential campaign of Hillary Clinton.
