An A-list event demands a show-stopping gown.
And Naomie Harris, 40, certainly stood out from the starry crowd as she sashayed down the red carpet at the 70th Cannes Film Festival Opening Gala in a dazzling rainbow gown.
The Moonlight star wowed at the famous Palais des Festivals in her colourful Gucci Fall 2016 dress.
Naomie added a touch of vibrancy to the evening with her eye-catching striped tulle frock of pink, orange and green.
The 40-year-old British beauty certainly could not be missed on the carpet in her multi-coloured gown, which fell into candy stripes of contrasting horizontal and vertical style on the bodice and skirt.
Known for her typically form-fitting and glittering dresses, the frock marked a change for Naomie, as it cinched in at her waist with a netted ruffle, before expanding out into a unique A-line tulle skirt.
Never without a hint of glamour however, she layered a delicate silver necklace across her decolletage, and swept her tousled tresses behind her shoulders to leave her enviably youthful and glowing complexion on display.
The star-studded opening gala doubled up as a screening for one of this year’s contenders – French film Ismael’s Ghosts, by Arnaud Desplechin.
Starring Oscar winner Marion Cotillard, the flick follows a filmmaker whose life is sent into chaos by the return of a former lover – who arrives just as he is about to get to work on his new blockbuster.
This year’s festival runs from May 17-28, and includes 49 films in total, two of which are produced by streaming service Netflix – Okja and The Meyerowitz Stories.
However the decision to include them didn’t go down well with film purists and since the cinematic event has announced that from 2018 only movies set to be released on the big screen will be considered for selection.
Headed up by Volver director Pedro Almodóvar, members of this year’s judging panel from the Feature Films category include actors Jessica Chastain, Will Smith and Fan Bingbing, as well as directors Paolo Sorrention and Gabriel Yared, of The English Patient fame.
