Armstead had shoulder surgery in June
The New Orleans Saints rarely provide detailed injury updates, but the team provided some clarity on left tackle Terron Armstead’s timetable on Saturday.
Armstead is among the players on the Saints‘ initial 53-man roster, which means will he not start the season on the physically unable to perform list. The 26-year-old underwent shoulder surgery in June and started training camp on the active/PUP list, but the team will not place him on the reserve/PUP list that would hold him out for the first six weeks of the season.

Rookie Ryan Ramczyk will likely start at left tackle to open the season, and behind him the team has limited options after cutting Bryce Harris, Khalif Barnes and Jerry Ugokwe this weekend. That makes Senio Kelemete the default backup at both tackle spots to open the year, behind Ramczyk and right tackle Zach Strief — unless the Saints add someone else before the Week 1 matchup on Sept. 11.
