A piece of cargo-loading equipment burst into flames Monday at Hong Kong International Airport, leaving one person injured and canceling an American Airlines flight to Los Angeles.
The fire erupted as crews were loading Flight 192 with “non-hazardous” cargo, according to airline spokeswoman Martha Thomas.
The container that was on the loading equipment also caught fire, Thomas said.
The flight had not begun boarding at the time and no passengers or crew were injured.
