Nestle is debuting a new Ruby chocolate flavor for its KitKat bar in Japan and South Korea
Candy fans in Japan and South Korea will soon be getting a different taste of their beloved KitKat bars, as Nestle takes the wafer treat and dips it in a new confection dubbed Ruby chocolate.
KitKats coated in the pink-tinged, berry-like chocolate will make their debut on Friday. It’s the newest taste twist for the candy bar, whose flavors have included Matcha and even sake in Japan where the candy is wildly popular.
Nestle says it’s the first company to sell Ruby chocolate, a new variety that was unveiled in September and created by the Swiss chocolate maker Barry Callebaut.
The limited edition KitKats, called KitKat Chocolatory Sublime Ruby, will be sold online, in Kit Kat boutiques and in roughly 80 Japanese pop-up shops that will be open in the lead-up to Valentine’s Day.
