Super Bowl volunteers are all over Minneapolis, helping people navigate the city before the big game Sunday.
MINNEAPOLIS- Ten thousand people were picked to become Super Bowl volunteers to help guide visitors around Minneapolis.
The volunteers are stationed at the airport, events, attractions and iconic Minnesota landmarks, including the Mall of America.
„I love Minnesota, and I love sports, so I thought this was an excellent opportunity to participate in something that’s kind of a once in a lifetime opportunity,“ said volunteer Sarah Groen.
The volunteers are handing out maps of Super Bowl Live, a 10-day outdoor event in downtown Minneapolis, giving tourists hand warmers and navigating newcomers to where they want to go.
„Being out here and seeing the people… engaging them and making them laugh. We try to make them have a good time when they get in here,“ said volunteer Rick Adams.
The volunteers are hard to miss, wearing bright purple and blue.
„We got off the train, and right away they were there to help us with anything we needed,“ said Jane Jackson, who is visiting Minneapolis from Wisconsin.
The volunteers went through a rigorous interview process.
Twenty-five thousand people applied, but only 10,000 people were chosen as volunteers.
