Detroit rapper was set to perform at Little Caesars Arena on June 2
Big Sean has scrapped his upcoming tour, including a June 2 date at Little Caesars Arena, venue officials have confirmed.
Fans who purchased tickets for the tour were notified of the cancellation via Ticketmaster. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.
The outing was set to launch April 12 at Orlando’s CFE Arena. A note from the rapper posted to the venue’s website reads: “To all my fans: I’ve been in a deep creative space and decided I need to stay focused in the studio – so, unfortunately, I am postponing my upcoming tour. I learned in life you have to follow your intuition – I hope you do the same. Thank you for your continued love and support. It means the world to me. Trust, we are working on something special for you all.”
The “Unfriendly Reminder” tour was announced earlier this month and was set to focus on the 10-year anniversary of Sean’s recording career. He announced a concept where fans would pick the show’s setlists every night, pulling from the rapper’s catalog of four studio albums and multiple mixtapes and collaborative projects.
When announcing the tour, the 29-year-old Cass Tech graduate born Sean Anderson said he was hoping the tour would act as a celebration of his career to date.
“Before I step into this new chapter of music, I was really sitting and reflecting on the past ten years and all we’ve accomplished. I had to go back in and listen to all the old mixtapes and albums, and I was like damn man a lot of this stuff didn’t get the true shine,” he wrote on Twitter at the time.
“So with the platform I have now, I thought it would be perfect to revisit a lot of the old music as well as the new classics on my next tour. But I’m gonna give you guys the opportunity to choose my setlist on this tour. Can’t wait to hit the road.”
The 31-date tour was set to feature opening acts Playboy Carti, Shy Glizzy and Gashi.
The Little Caesars Arena date was the tour’s second-to-last engagement. The tour was set to wrap June 3 in Toronto.
