PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds players discover a new glitch in the Xbox One version of the game that could actually turn out to be rather helpful in a sticky situation.
A couple of days ago, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on Xbox One received a substantial update that addressed a number of lingering glitches and bugs in the game while also greatly improving its performance. However, that update seems to have caused another glitch entirely, though it’s one that is actually rather helpful.
This glitch allows downed players in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds to get back into the action without having to be revived completely by their teammates. For anyone that wishes to test it out for themselves, start reviving a teammate for about four seconds or so, then stop reviving them by standing up and walking away. If done correctly, they should end up reviving themselves.

Of course, there’s a chance that this isn’t a glitch at all, and rather, it was an intentional choice by the developers. However, that seems unlikely, especially since there was no mention of this made in the patch notes. While the patch notes for the new update don’t say anything about making such a drastic change to the way reviving downed players works in the game, though, they may actually offer a clue as to why this is happening.
In the patch notes, the developers explain that they attempted to address an issue where reviving a downed player was cancelled unintentionally. It’s possible that in an attempt to fix this the developers overcompensated and now players are being revived even when their teammates have intentionally stopped reviving them to engage an incoming enemy or do something else.
We personally encountered this glitch numerous times while playing PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds over the past couple of days. In one instance, a partner was trying to revive us, only to be downed by an enemy. Thanks to the glitch, we stood back up and were able to unfairly kill our opponent with a shotgun blast.
This glitch may prove to be helpful to some, but it is definitely an exploit that the developers will want to patch out of the game as soon as possible, especially since they have made it a point to crack down on cheating in the game.
