Austin police have arrested a man who officials say emailed a bomb threat to festival organizers at South by Southwest.
Trevor Weldon Ingram, 26, was taken into custody Saturday night on a terroristic threat charge, police said in a news release. The threat was received by email at 4:23 p.m. Saturday, police said.
The Roots were scheduled to perform a concert at Fair Market located at 1100 E. 5th Street in Austin, the venue targeted by the threat, officials said.
Bud Light, which was sponsoring the performance, made the decision to cancel the event around 9:40 p.m. Saturday.
Police said they found no threat after searching the area and said there was no broader security concern for festival-goers.
The Roots‘ Questlove responded to criticism about the canceled performance in a tweet Sunday morning.
The threat came after three deadly package bombings in Austin, two of which happened Monday. Two people have been killed and a third was seriously injured by the bombings, officials said.
