You need to be able to find 4 different Nilfheim Language Ciphers which are hidden inside the chests to be able to complete the favor known as ‘The Realm of Fog’. This favor is very important as it will allow you to travel to Nilfheim. However, it is also quite difficult for which reason this God of War Nilfheim Guide exists.

The cursed mist is spread about in the entire realm, and you will need to craft gear that can help you survive in the mist. As soon as you cross the bridge into the area, you will get Mist Echoes which will help you craft the gear which is essential for your survival. You can see Sindri’s shop and Ivaldi’s workshop once you are past the bridge.
You must escape the Cursed Mist before your health runs out or you are going to die. Here is a list of all of the armor that you can get in the area which can help you survive the Cursed Mist.
There are many different regions in Nilfheim which are connected to each other through trap doors. You can use the trap doors to traverse the areas and switch between them after you have finished looting one of them. These doors have chests and coffins in them which can have some very rare loot. There is also a Nornir Chest in one of the areas which connect the different regions of Nilfheim.
Remember that there will be Level 6 or higher monsters in Nilfheim which may be alone or in packs. You need to use your runic attacks and Atreus’ arrows effectively if you ever plan on surviving them. Area of effect abilities will also be quintessential to your survival. The number of Mist Echoes will increase as you move further into the areas as well, so be aware of the reward for high-risk moves.
Let’s take a look at all of the regions in Nilfheim and what kind of loot they possess.
Region #1 This region is accessible through the short walls. You can open the door by crafting an entry stone. The area does not have a lot of difficult enemies. Kill them at the start but simply spring past them to get to the areas with the loot later on.
Region #2 This region is accessed after you go through 2 traps. The enemies will be tougher and the loot will be better here, so tread carefully to reap the rewards.
Region #3 This area can be accessed through the top of the Nilfheim loop. This area has a lot of difficult enemies for you to deal with. There is a small chance that you find some Aerisbane in here as well.
Region #4 This region is towards the end of the realm and has the most difficult of fights with the most difficult of loot as a reward. You will be able to find most Aerisbane and Anchor of Fog here. You need to defeat a Valkyrie known as Hildr to enter the area.
Center Chamber If you manage to complete the quest for Sindri, you will be able to access the center chamber which has some great loot for you to collect. There are some Legendary Chests which can be opened for a certain amount of cost.
There are 3 different favors that you can do in Nilfheim. Here are all of them.
Ivaldi’s Workshop Sindri tasks you with going inside the center chamber. Craft the key using 500 Mist Echoes and then enter the chamber. Once you have done that, the favor will be complete and you will be rewarded with 1075 XP.
Ivaldi’s Protection This favor has you getting the Rusted Royal Armor that is near the corpse and getting it back to Sindri. Keep on looting the chests until you find this armor and return it to Sindri in order to get 1075 XP along with the recipe for Nilfheim Armour.
Ivaldi’s Curse This favor has you sealing the three realm tears. You need to pay a certain number of Mist Echoes along with an Anchor of Fog to spawn your enemies and then defeat the monsters to seal the realm.
The first tear has 10000 Mist Echoes and an Anchor of Fog as the entry. It requires you to defeat 3 Ogres of level 6,7 and 8. The reward is the Blades of Chaos Heavy Runic Attack known as Gift of Apollo.
The second tear has the entry of 20000 Mist Echoes and 1 Anchor of Fog. You need to defeat a Soul Devourer and 2 Wulvers to get the Mistbourne Axe Pommel.
The third tear has 15000 Mist Echoes and 1 Anchor of Fog as the entry. The enemies are 3 Level 8 Revenants and Level 8 Nightmares. Defeating them grants you the Talisman of Cursed Power.
