President Trump’s job approval ratings in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, the three key states that helped put him in the White House, are below 40 percent, according to a new polls released on Sunday.
In Michigan, 36 percent of voters approve of the president’s job performance, but 55 percent said they disapprove, NBC News/Marist polls show.
In Pennsylvania, 35 percent approve and 54 percent disapprove, while in Wisconsin, 34 percent give him a thumbs up and 56 percent do not.
And six out of 10 in those three battleground states said Trump’s recent conduct has “embarrassed” them, according to the polls taken after the violence at a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Va.
Sixty-four percent of voters in Michigan and Wisconsin said they are “embarrassed” by his behavior, while 63 percent in Pennsylvania say they are.
In Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, 25 percent say they are “proud” of Trump. In Michigan, 28 percent say they are “proud.”
Trump carried the trio of states in the 2016 presidential election by a total of 80,000 votes and became the first Republican to carry them since the 1980s.
The polls were conducted between Aug. 13-17. They surveyed 795 voters in Michigan, 773 voters in Pennsylvania and 801 voters in Wisconsin. Each poll has a plus or minus 3.5 percentage point margin of error.
