Of the total 724 deaths that have been reported, officials said 284 were skilled nursing facility residents, 38 were in assisted living facilities and one was listed as homeless.
The Orange County Health Care Agency reported 886 new cases of the coronavirus as of Monday, Aug.10, bringing the county’s cumulative total of positive tests to 40,527 cases. The county has not had a daily report with more than 600 new cases in the last 10 days, but has noted that the state’s CalREDIE electronic laboratory reporting system has been experiencing issues with the application that receives test reports from laboratories. The California Department of Public Health is trying to resolve the issue, which has been resulting in a lower number of daily COVID-19 positive cases received and tests reported recently. It is estimated that more than three quarters of the reported cases, or 30,657 as of Monday, have recovered. The count of people who have recovered is based on the prior 28-day cumulative case count.
